Nigamananda Abasik Gurukul (Primary & High) School

In 19th January, 2026, the Trust proudly launched its flagship residential school with students of 111 – “Nigamananda Abasik Gurukul (Primary & High) School” which is inaugurated by Mr. Parag Patel(USA), The Vipassana Meditation Teacher from Panditarama International Vipassana Meditation Centre, Lumbini(Nepal). The Bengali medium school is based on WBBSE curriculum for secondary level based on & WBCHSE curriculum for higher secondary level. This modern Gurukul follows the ancient Indian tradition of holistic education while incorporating contemporary academic standards. The school aims to nurture students not only in academics but also in character, discipline, physical fitness, yoga, meditation, and moral values.

Currently, the ashram provides residential care and support to 111 students (72 boys and 39 girls) from pre-primary to Class XII. All students receive completely free lodging, fooding, education, and medical care.

The residential facilities are designed to create a family-like, safe, and nurturing environment where children from extremely poor and orphan backgrounds can grow with dignity and hope for a better future.

A Day in the Life at Nigamananda Abasik Gurukul

The daily routine at Nigamananda Abasik Gurukul is thoughtfully designed to blend the timeless wisdom of the ancient Gurukul system with modern academic requirements. It nurtures the students’ physical health, mental clarity, emotional balance, and spiritual growth while ensuring strong academic progress. Rooted in discipline, simplicity, and holistic development, the schedule reflects the Trust’s commitment to all-round personality building.

Students follow a structured Brahma Muhurta (early morning) to bedtime regimen that promotes self-discipline, mindfulness, and a balanced lifestyle. Here is an overview of a typical day:

4:30 AM – 5:00 AM

Wake-up & Morning Hygiene Students rise early in the serene atmosphere of the ashram. They complete personal hygiene, cleaning, and light stretching to awaken the body gently.

5:00 AM – 6:00 AM

Yoga, Pranayama & Physical Exercise The day begins with yoga asanas and pranayama sessions at the Nigamananda Gymnasium or open grounds. This is followed by light physical training and exercises that build strength, flexibility, and vitality. Boys and girls participate separately in their respective wings.

6:00 AM – 6:45 AM

Meditation & Spiritual Practice Students engage in Vipassana or guided meditation at the International Vipassana Meditation Centre. This is accompanied by chanting of mantras, prayers, and devotional songs, fostering inner peace and concentration.

6:45 AM – 7:30 AM

Self-Study / Vedic Values & Moral Education A quiet period for personal study or learning moral values, life skills, and basic spiritual knowledge under the guidance of teachers and ashram mentors.

7:30 AM – 8:00 AM

Breakfast Nutritious, sattvic breakfast is served in the common dining hall. All meals are freshly prepared and provided free of cost.

8:00 AM – 12:30 PM

Academic Classes (Morning Session) Regular school hours as per the West Bengal Board curriculum (or equivalent). Subjects include English, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Bengali, and others. Dedicated teachers ensure individual attention, especially for students coming from disadvantaged backgrounds.

12:30 PM – 1:30 PM

Lunch & Rest Wholesome lunch followed by a short rest period to recharge for the afternoon.

1:30 PM – 3:30 PM

Academic Classes / Special Coaching (Afternoon Session) Continuation of studies, doubt-clearing sessions, or project work. Extra support is provided for weaker students to help them catch up and excel.

3:30 PM – 4:30 PM

Sports, Games & Physical Activities Outdoor games, sports, and recreational activities at the Nigamananda Gymnasium grounds. This helps develop teamwork, discipline, and physical fitness.

4:30 PM – 5:30 PM

Evening Yoga / Gymnastics & Skill Development Additional yoga practice or light gymnastics. Students may also engage in creative activities such as drawing, music, or basic life skills.

5:30 PM – 6:30 PM

Evening Prayer, Meditation & Satsang Group prayer, short meditation, and inspirational sessions that reinforce values like compassion, gratitude, honesty, and selfless service.

6:30 PM – 7:30 PM

Self-Study / Homework Supervised evening study time to complete academic assignments and revise lessons.

7:30 PM – 8:00 PM

Dinner Light, healthy dinner served with love and care.

8:00 PM – 8:30 PM

Wind-down & Reflection Quiet time for personal reflection, light reading, or gentle group discussions.

8:30 PM

Lights Out All students retire to their dormitories in the Boys’ Wing or Girls’ Wing for a peaceful night’s rest.
